Welcome Educators!
Hello GLC Team,
My name is Joy Daniels and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself (or reacquaint) and share my excitement as the new vice principal of the GLC Elementary School. Words could not express how delighted I am to embark on this educational journey. I look forward to assisting Mr. Volpe to positively impact every student’s performance and school experience. I feel fortunate to be joining a school culture that focuses on igniting student learning, has a commitment to setting high expectations, and sees the power in collaboration. It is my intention to carry on these important traditions and practices. During the course of the year, it is my hope that we will work together to provide the students the best possible opportunities in preparing them to be creative thinkers, motivated learners and future leaders.
Here is a little about me and my background. My educational journey began as a young child teaching to eight teddy bears (my play students), but then in 2002 I finally transitioned to educating real
children. I am extremely passionate about the early childhood years (Prek-3rd) because of the essential foundational skills that are established and its impact as children begin to make sense of themselves and the world around them. Before becoming a district facilitator, I have sprinkled my love for teaching in preschool, kindergarten, and 3rd grade. All of these experiences have molded me into the educator that I am today. My first year teaching, my colleagues labeled me the "Musical Nut" for many of reasons. You name it and I had a tune for every concept you can think of. I am a true believer that music is a strong learning tool that enhances the classroom climate and adds a meaningful touch to any lesson. So who is brave enough to do a duet with me and sing with the children? With all of my experiences in and out of the classroom, I am elated to share my craft of teaching and to work with you all as a partner in education to ensure our children’s success.
On a personal note, I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 13 years and I have one child
(Simone) that mimics my every move. She is the best student to teach and share ideas with. So I have a great TEAM behind me! In my spare time, I enjoy going on inventive adventures with Simone, knitting, searching for uncommon boutiques in the city, listening to oldies, reading children’s books at Barnes & Nobles, and helping my husband in the garden.
So now that I gave you a peek into my world, I hope you will allow me to learn more about you throughout the year. These conversations are just the beginning in creating a road map in building the communication bridge. With my “open door” policy, I am interested in speaking with all of you and the students. Thanks to all of you who gave me a warm welcome during the summer.
Enjoy the rest of the summer!
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Daniels
